Our school days are coming to an end. Some mornings we decide to leave the schoolbooks, and....




.... take an outing, instead.

And it pays off: Little Miss picks up a book, and starts reading it to me.

Näin kouluvuoden loppupäässä on joskus hyvä jättää kirjat kotiin, ja lähteä pienelle retkelle. Pienelle, kivalle retkelle. Ja jos se päättyy kotona kirjojen ääneen lukemiseen, se on hyvä paussi koulujutuista se. Varsinkin, jos maman ei tarvitse pakoittaa kehoittaa pyytää lukemaan.

It's a Beautiful Mess/Kaunista sotkua

In one of Little Miss' Sonlight homeschool books was a recipe for pancakes. Spending a morning making pancakes becomes school, right?




The pancakes were delicious. And Little Miss did almost everything by herself. Very little help was required.

Yhdessä Pikkuneidin kotikoulukirjassa oli pannukakkuresepti. Eikös yksi aamu pannareita tehdessä olekin hyvää koulua? Herkullisia oli, ja hyvin vähän tarvittiin apua:)

Pikkuneidin kanssa pääsimme rannalle tunniksi. Siellä ei ollut ketään muita! Niin rauhallista ja seesteistä. Ja sitten saapui Mr T:)
Meillä oli oikein ihanaa rannalla, rauhallista, seesteistä, ja hauskaa!!

Our Big Announcement/Iso uutisemme!

We are thrilled to introduce Mei Mei! She is turning two in June, and currently resides in Hubei, China. At some point this summer (or fall), we will be bringing her home.

(Mei mei means little sister in Chinese, and so it will be her blog name.)


This has been a project we have quietly been working on since January 2014, but as you can see here, it is no surprise to our great God. He is so good!

Our hearts are full!

Isoja uutisia Mothership-porukalla! Meille on tulossa pikkusisko kesällä (tai syksyllä) Kiinasta! Mei Mei (tarkoittaa pikkusiskoa kiinaksi, ja on pienen tyttäremme bloginimi) täyttää kaksi vuotta kesäkuussa, ja asuu Hubein maakunnassa. 

Aloitimme adoptioprosessin tammikuussa 2014, mutta kuten tästä vanhasta englanninkielisestä kirjoituksesta näkee, Taivaan Isä tiesi tämänkin asian etukäteen:)

Sydämemme on pakahtua onnesta!

Visitors/Vierailijoita

We have had the privilege of hosting wonderful family and friends while here in Florida. My nephew came from Finland, and soon after he arrived, Grandma and Grandpa drove down in their motorhome from Maine.

For a couple of weeks they visited us, and we visited them (at the campground). The time went by too quickly!



Easter Sunday we had friends from New England, as well. My friend Ina, also originally from Finland, was visiting Florida with her family, and were able to come spend the day with us. We had a wonderful time!



And after Easter, my sister's family arrived from Virginia, and we had a few chaotic precious days together. As our neighbors would confirm, the cousins together can make a joyful noise!:)

Meillä on ollut ihania vierailijoita täällä Floridassa. Ensin saapui isosiskoni poika Suomesta, sitten isovanhemmat Mainestä, ja pääsiäisenä saimme Inan perheineen meille päiväksi. Myös pikkusiskoni perhe tuli muutamaksi päiväksi Virginiasta. Yllä kuvia, paljon kivoja muistoja jäi tältä ajalta..

Homeschool High School Math - Must Read If...

If you are looking for an AMAZING high school math curriculum, please check out Mr. D Math. I wrote a review of it in October, after we had used it for a few weeks for our Geometry classes, and now that we have done most of the year, I am even more pleased with Mr. D Math Curriculum, if that is possible.

And my four high school students ALL are happy with it. This year has been the best math year for us, ever! I cannot tell you how happy I am. I believe math (and science) tend to be the weak links in homeschooling, and I am grateful it has not been the case for us. This year.
