Sunday Snapshot {May First}

May first, and we still have ice, and even some snow. Still, Spring is finally here, and warmer temperatures. The first mosquitoes are out too (yikes).

Meillä ei varsinaisesti vappua juhlittu (ehkä ensi vuonna saisin siman laitettua?), mutta nautimme kauniista keväisestä päivästä jäästä (ja pikkaisesta määrästä lunta) huolimatta. Ekat hyttysetkin huomattiin.

Our friend A came back Saturday night. Homeschooling is great - he brought his schoolwork, and all the kids are working on school in the morning, and playing and exploring in the afternoon.

Ystävämme A tuli takaisin lauantai-illalla.

Sunday morning at church we were really surprised to see friends from New Hampshire! Their daughter came home with us to spend the afternoon with our girls. What a sweet blessing!

Sunnuntaiaamuna kirkossa yllätykseksemme näimme New Hampshiren ystäviämme. Heidän tyttärensä tuli meille iltapäiväksi meidän tyttöjen iloksi ja seuraksi.

And latest nature finds? The Captain met the resident of our garage: a long-tailed weasel, at least that's what we think it is. We also spotted a pair of Hooded Mergansers. It was neat to watch them dive.

  1. I thought of you guys today when I was reading to Kate. Have you ever read Annie and the Wild Animals by Jan Brett?

  2. Such a peaceful place! Is the lake close enough for you to wander around every day?

  3. One Acre Follies, we've read some of her books, but I don't remember this one. Thanks for the tip, I'll add it to our library list!

    Jessy, we are so blessed to have this house right on the lake. I don't know how far South you guys are, but if you are up for a field trip, send me a message and come on up for a visit!! We love having visitors!

  8. Thank you, Katie!

    HarmlessColor, I love learning names of birds/animals with my kids :-D

  10. Thank you, Becky! We love the freedom homeschooling gives our family. We did 5 years of Christian school, and it was very hard to schedule family trips. And forget about moving to Florida and spending time in Maine ;-)
