At Homeschool Convention/Kotikoulukonferenssissa

Back in May we attended the FPEA 2014 Homeschool Convention at Gaylord Palms in Kissimmee, FL. It was our third year, and perhaps the best.

One reason for that was my sister flew in with her oldest, and joined us at the convention! They are also a homeschooling family.

My time was split between making sure everybody got to where they were supposed to go (various sessions), the littles weren't too bored, everyone got fed (something), and that we visited every vendor on our list (plus some).

Making sure I photographed the event was not on the list, so instead, I'll share random images and tidbits. I'm hoping to do another blog post on the teens' program.

Gaylord Palms Resort and Convention Center
is such an amazing place to hold a homeschool conference. The pictures above are from the "Key West" where we had a yummy dinner at Sunset Sam's. We also enjoyed looking at the huge fish and stingrays swimming in these waters.

In the middle of the three-acre Atrium you can find alligators and turtles. (I heard there were snakes, too, but I didn't go looking for them.)

The Cypress Springs Family Fun Water Park (filled with other homeschool families) was a favorite spot for all the kids.

In the middle of the St. Augustine atrium Gaylord Palms has a Castillo de San Marcos, a small-scale replica of Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest fort in North America. What a great place to take pictures (above).

FPEA does a wonderful job with the convention. The teens' program was fantastic, the Captain got a lot out of the speakers and sessions, especially the ones by HSLDA. The convention was certainly one of the highlights of our spring! Thank you FPEA and Gaylord Palms!
