After visiting my sister and family in Virginia, we headed to northern Virginia. We had a couple of scheduled stops to make, but to our typical fashion had no reservations to stay any place particular.
It is amazing how God directs our paths. One blessing was finding this sweet campground in Reston, Virginia. We only stayed for one night, but know we will return. The grounds were beautiful with great little paths around the lake and woods, bath houses were clean, and there was a waterpark we could have visited.
After we left Luray Caverns, we saw this beautiful rainbow. After a while Mr. A noticed a second one above the first one! Do you see it? So pretty. This is very important to our story.
Our GPS was set to Woodstock, Virginia, where we were planning to stay the night (we didn't). Without looking at the map, we started following the set course, only to find ourselves on a narrow, twisty road climbing up. Yikes! The Mothership struggled on, and we were starting to get nervous.
There was no place to turn around.
Finally an opening through the trees - wow, we were high up!
Look at those hairpin turns! We decided the beautiful rainbow we had seen was a promise from God we would make it through, alive.
Just in case, though, we told the kids how much we loved them:)
It finally gets better. Before it gets worse - we start climbing, again! Mr. A reminded us we saw a DOUBLE rainbow, and the second one was higher than the first!
We made it. Thank You, God!!! :)
So, Tripadvisor failed us, and the motel in Woodstock was a no-go. The Captain decided to drive on, and the full moon cheered us on. We drove from Virginia to West Virginia to Maryland.
Sunday morning we woke up to a gorgeous view at a rest stop. We had beautiful driving from Maryland (back) to West Virginia. And an extra nice stop there, which deserves a blog post of its' own.
From West Virginia we drove to Pennsylvania and yet back to West Virginia (can you say odd state borders???), and finally to Ohio. And into a rainstorm.
After gorgeous mountain ranges and hills to gorgeous farm country of Ohio. The sunsets have been amazing!
And finally Jackson Center, Ohio, where the
Home sweet, Ohio Airstream, home for the week.
To be continued...

Matkasiunauksia olemme keränneet tällä matkalla päivittäin. Löysimme kivan leirintäalueen, olemme nauttineet kauniista näköaloista matkan varrella, selvisimme hengissä pelottavista mutkaisista vuoriteistä - ja upeat sateenkaaret antoivat toivoa:)
Tie toi meidät Airstream-tehtaalle Ohioon, kotimme tämän viikon aikana.
Kiitos, sisko rakas, noista ihanista kuvista. Ihania tunnelmia, täynnä Luojamme töiden ylistystä.
ReplyDeleteSiunaukset olkoot osanne.
The mountains are so beautiful to see, but oh how I love living in the flat lands!!! Especially in the winter.
ReplyDeleteKiitos, Sirkku! Herra on kantanut ja kantaa edelleen <3
