Here's our small Fourth of July Crew! Thankful for our many blessings, and choosing to serve the Lord.

Love all the flowers blooming. Grandma's garden had hydrangeas and roses in full bloom - so glorious!

Up in Grandma and Grandpa's attic, a puppet show was scheduled, then canceled. I did catch an impromptu show for small audiences. It was fantastic.

Fourth of July festivities were rescheduled for the fifth due to Hurricane Arthur blowing through.

(And blow it did. Our old house storm windows rattled and the wind was screaming in the chimney. We were safe and snug while the storm raged on.)

The highlight for our crew every year is the watermelon eating contest. The kids didn't disappoint this year, either - Cousin H won the finals this year (congratulations!!!), and we were able to bring watermelons home! Yum:)

Even though the big Main Street Waterfight with the fire department at high noon was canceled, there was quite a bit of spraying going on, anyway.

I caught these two folks filling their squirt guns at the water fountain on top of Main Street:)

Such a fun time to be on Nantucket Island. Wonderful traditions!

  2. Ina, it was! And these t-shirts are a tradition:) Grandma and Grandpa have a closet full for family and friends - we only wear them over the 4th (and 5th, like this year:)
